Everyone has heard of Achilles, son of King Peleus and the sea-nymph Thetis, the greatest of the Greeks and fiercest warrior. He was instrumental in the battle of Troy, as was his lover Patroclus. Their deep and meaningful relationship was the catalyst of the war when Patroclus' death urged Achilles into a vengeful wrath, thus slaying the warrior prince of Troy, Hector. In historical myths and legends it is known that Achilles was callous in manner to all but Patroclus. When Achilles finally fell to an arrow guided by Apollo himself (to Achilles' only vulnerable spot, his ankle) he insisted his ashes be mixed with Patroclus'.
