Polyphemus is the most infamous of the Cyclopses. He was the son of the god Poseidon, and was described as a mountain of a man in The Odyssey. Here he is depicted terrorizing Odysseus and his men on the island of the Cyclopses when they happened upon his cave and flock of sheep and goats.
